About me

An image of Zagon Nagy, a cinematographer.

I’m a Cinematographer graduate from the University of Theatre and Film Arts of Budapest (SZFE). I’ve worked on commercials, music videos, documentaries, and feature films. My debut feature, GENTLE, premiered at the Sundance Film Festival and made history as the first Hungarian film in the World Cinema Dramatic Competition. I won the Hungarian Cinematographers Association’s Award in 2023 for my work on it. I also worked on LESSON LEARNED, which premiered at the 77th Locarno Film Festival and was featured at MoMA and Lincoln Center. My documentaries, NINE MONTH WAR, which won the JURY Prize at the Sarajevo Film Festival, and TALES FROM THE PRISON CELL, which earned two awards at the Zsigmond Vilmos International Cinematography Film Festival, have also received recognition. In 2022, I presented Beauty of the Beast at a cinematography masterclass at Sheffield DocFest and Canon UK. I’m a proud member of the Hungarian Cinematographers Association (HCA) and the Boddah and Pancake collectives.
